Parody

Salam Alaik friends!

in my new entry i want to tell about parody. Do you know what is parody?can you define what parody is?let me explain the meaning of parody...

PARODY - to use wit, especially irony, sarcasm and ridicule, to criticize a particular subject as depicted in literary works play or films.

I bet you guys have already watch some of the parody movie. some Hollywood movie did parody some of the blockbuster movie such as Twillight. they parody into Vampire Suck. Actually there got so many parody movies but I only put one.

how can you detect a Frenemies?

1. She’s a master manipulator. They don’t want what’s best for you. They want what’s best for them. But somehow they’ll convince you that what you want is what’s best for them, and what’s best for you. So really, what you wanted was wrong, what she wants is what you really want. You just didn’t know it. Confused yet? You should be. This is what a frenemy does. They will switch everything around, and have you changing your mind before you even realize it. They are master manipulators.

2. She’s in constant competition with you. Over guys. Over clothes. Over grades. It doesn’t really matter. What matters is that she is winning and you are losing. And she’ll make sure that you know that. And you should be happy for her, shouldn’t you? After all, she’s your friend. And you don’t want to be a sore loser. It doesn’t matter that she had no interest in entering that essay contest until after she heard about if from you…

3. She’s only around when she needs something. You haven’t heard from her in weeks, but now, suddenly she needs a wing woman for her double date with this really hot guy. Is his friend hot too? Not so much. But that shouldn’t matter. You’re just helping her out. And she’ll return the favor, won’t she? Too bad she didn’t answer your texts/phone calls/bbms/Facebook messages when you needed her.

4. She can compliment you and insult you at the same time. “That top looks great on you, way better than the stuff you normally wear!” “It’s so great, the way you don’t care about the way you look when you leave the house.” “Cute bag! I had one like it…in junior high!” “Wow, makeup can really do a lot, can’t it?” I could go on, but I don’t think I need to, really. You get the point. And so do they.

5. She’s never honest. You’ve caught her in a lie more than once. But you’ve never brought it up to her because when you think about confronting her it sounds petty. Really petty. But it didn’t seem petty at the time. Or the time before that. So she told you she was sick when she was really out hanging out with that bitch from Bio Chem. So she’s dating that guy you met at the bar last week and she never told you. It’s little stuff. But it does sort of add up. Doesn’t it?

p/s: Frenemies is not only happen to girls only, it also happen to boys.

THE BEST WAY TO GET RID FROM THE 'FRENEMY' IS PUNCH IN THEIR FACE!!

The Revolutionist El Che!!

Salam Alaik,

well everybody...how's your day? I know everybody is busy with your bundle of assignments. a pile of works need to be done by week 14 and 15. yeah, me already grab the title of Queen of Procrastinate. HAIL QUEEN RAIHANI!

che guevara quotes
in my new entry, I Would like to tell about a handsome revolutionist, Ernesto Che Guevara from Argentina, Rosario. He came from the wealthy family. the first thing when he came out to this world his father said "The first thing to note is that in my son’s veins flowed the blood of the rebels." Little did anyone know he would become. We will look into the history of how he joined the revolutionary movement and everything he did and achieved that has gotten him the fame he has now. He was a patient of asthma and occasional crippling. He never let his condition come in the way of becoming an athlete and a traveler.

Che Guevara studied medicine in University of Buenos Aries. after which he worked as a doctor for some time. It was in Guatemala, in 1954, where he saw the socialist government which was headed by President Jacobo Arbenz be overthrown by the American-supported military coup. This was when he decided to join the Cuban revolution led by Fidel Castro, who resided in Mexico during this time. The poverty that Che was surrounded by led him to participate in the political activism. He blamed his poverty on the United States and on capitalism. In 1960, he made visits to the Soviet Union and China. When he returned, he wrote two books, which discussed the possibility of expanding the revolution to other South American regions. After resigning as the Minister for Industries in 1965, he renewed his efforts in becoming a guerrilla leader in Bolivia. He chose Bolivia because it was in the center of the continent and because it was vulnerable to change because of their economic and social conditions. Since Bolivia was located far from America, this was a desirable place to go as it was far from interference. They took camp in a mountainous region, a place that looked a lot like the Sierra Mountains in Cuba. Two of his soldiers eventually defected to the Bolivian government after they turned themselves in. They gave up the location of the camp. When the Bolivian officials came to know of this, they asked the US government for help and the CIA trained several operatives and set up a camp for soldiers. In 1967, Felix Rodriguez was selected to head a team to capture the rebel leader, who was eventually captured by the Bolivian General, General Gary Prado. Felix after whom he was executed when he was taken prisoner interrogated him. He was not shot rather he was butchered by a hired group of killers. A trial was not given to Che because they feared that it would lead to an uprising from the Bolivian public, in favor of Che.

Che Guevara quotes are well known to the people who are familiar with this his hypocrisy. He will always remain imperishable memory as being a real bloodthirsty revolutionary . He will also be seen as an inspirational character to people who are a part of the new generation of dinosaurs. He will always be seen as a means of inspiration to naïve people . Che Guevara will always be remembered for the part he played as being a people person, irrespective of him being brutal and harsh.

A few quotes taken from Che Guevara:
  • “Blind hate against the enemy creates a forceful impulse that cracks the boundaries of natural human limitations, transforming the soldier in an effective, selective and cold killing machine. A people without hate cannot triumph against the adversary.”
  • “A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate. We must create the pedagogy of the The Wall!” The Wall is a reference to the wall where Che’s enemies stood before his firing squads.
  • “If any person has a good word for the previous government that is good enough for me to have him shot.”
  • “Let me say, at the risk of seeming ridiculous, that the true revolutionary is guided by great feelings of love.”
  • “It’s a sad thing not to have friends, but it is even sadder not to have enemies.”

    funny syllogism!

    Salam Alaik friends!

In my latest entry I want to share some funny stuff about syllogism. Do you know about Syllogism?

    Syllogism

A syllogism ("conclusion," "inference"), (usually the categorical syllogism) is a kind of logical argument in which one proposition (the conclusion) is inferred from two others (the premises) of a certain form. In Aristotle's Prior Analytics, he defines syllogism as "a discourse in which, certain things having been supposed, something different from the things supposed results of necessity because these things are so". Despite this very general definition, he limits himself first to categorical syllogisms (and later to modal syllogisms). The syllogism is at the core of deductive reasoning, where facts are determined by combining existing statements, in contrast to inductive reasoning where facts are determined by repeated observations.A syllogism (henceforth categorical unless otherwise specified) consists of three parts: the major premise, the minor premise, and the conclusion. In Aristotle, each of the premises is in the form "Some/all A belong to B," where "Some/All A' is one term and "belong to B" is another, but more modern logicians allow some variation. Each of the premises has one term in common with the conclusion: in a major premise, this is the major term (i.e., the predicate) of the conclusion; in a minor premise, it is the minor term (the subject) of the conclusion. For example:Major premise: All humans are mortal.Minor premise: Socrates is human. Conclusion: Socrates is mortal.

    Syllogistic Mistakes

People often make mistakes when reasoning syllogistically. For instance, given the following parameters: some A are B, some B are C, people tend to come to a definitive conclusion that therefore some A are C.However, this does not follow. For instance, whilesome cats (A) are black (B), andsome black things (B) are televisions (C),it is false that some cats (A) are televisions (C).This is because first, the mood of the syllogism invoked is illicit, and second, the supposition of the middle term is variable between that of the middle term in the major premise, and that of the middle term in the minor premise (not all "some" cats are by necessity of logic the same "some black things").

    Funny Syllogism

    Number 1
    God is Love.
    Love is blind.
    Steve Wonder is blind.
Conclusion: Steve Wonder is God !

    Number 2
    I'm nothing.
    Nothing is perfect.
    God is Perfect.So, I'm God !
If Steve Wonder is God,I'm Steve Wonder.
    God's Sake!...I'm blind !

    Number 3

    My name is Charles.
    Charles is a noun.
    God is Verb, not Noun.
    Thus, I'm not God.

    Number 4

    The devil is ugly.
    My wife is ugly.
Therefore my wife is a devil.

    My funny syllogism.

    Octopus head is round.
    I have round head.
    Therefore I am an octopus.
    YEAY!

    HAHA THAT'S ALL.

Jack the ripper facts that you should know

    Salam alaik,

In my new entry i would like to tell about the famous serial killer, Jack the Ripper. Maybe some of you did not know about this. Let me explain a little bit about Jack the Ripper (JTR). JTR is the world's most famous serial killer. His victims are prostitutes, five victims that are popular is Mary Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride,Catherine Eddowes and Mary Kelly.

Let's explore an interesting facts and information about Jack The Ripper!!

A crime that fascinates modern detectives.

A savage killer of women became known as Jack the Ripper. The gruesome nature of the killings left an indelible mark on the the city of London and on the rest of the world.

    Ripper Letter

    Whitechapel High Street, 1905

Survey Map of Whitechapel: Murder Locations

George Lusk, President of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee

    "FROM HELL" letter

    1. Jack the Ripper was an alias for a killer who preyed on prostitutes.

    2. The murders occurred between 1888-1891, killings that terrorized London’s East End.

    3. The drama played out in a 1-mile area around the district known as Whitechapel, part of City of London proper.

    4. The killing spree was believed to be too much for the Whitechapel CID and Scotland Yard became involved, sending in reinforcements.

    5. Ripper victims possibly numbered 11 with a strong belief that actual Ripper casualties were about 5 women.

    6. The nature of the murders included throat slitting and abdominal mutilation. Surgeons who examined the bodies saw evidence of a degree of anatomical knowledge on the killer’s part, which included exact excision.

    7. The “Jack the Ripper” handle was derived from a mysterious letter that was sent to Central News Agency, and then forwarded on to the Metropolitan Police. The letter related that the author was “down on whores” and that he wouldn’t cease “ripping them.”

    8. Another missive arrived via a postcard. The writer used red ink and referred to himself as “Saucy Jacky,” then signed it Jack the Ripper.

    9. Although there were a number of suspects in the case, eventually this was narrowed down to four contenders.

    10. The Ripper murders and the Whitechapel murders are not one and the same thing.

    11. The notoriety of the murders became international, with lurid accounts appearing in newspapers of the day.

    12. A female torso was discovered in the cellars of the new police building under construction at Whitehall.

    13. The chairman of the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee received half a human kidney in a box accompanied by a letter “From Hell” that concluded: “Catch me when you can.” Was Jack taunting authorities?

    14. The murders apparently ceased by 1891.

    15. In 1896, another “Jack the Ripper” letter surfaced, with corresponding press activity and speculation that the Ripper had returned.
Jack the Ripper left a bloody and mysterious trail that fascinates, while it horrifies. The puzzle continues . . .

    Euphemistic language

    Salam alaik,

The task given by my lecturer is euphemistic language. So these are a few euphemistic language that i took from the article in the Times magazine.

'I think that I would be
    absurd
to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country'

-SARAH PALIN, former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate, discussing a possible bid for the presidency in 2012.
    • The word 'absurd' used in the statement above is euphemistic language. It means 'ridiculous'.
'To me he just a fall guy'

-JOE JACKSON,father of the late pop singer Michael Jackson, on the involuntary manslaughter charge brought against physician Conrad Murray, right , for his role in the entertainer's death. Jackson claims his son was the victim of a wider conspiracy.

    • The word fall a euphemistic language. It means Michael Jackson just a innocent guy.
'I deeply regret the pain that I have caused to my family, the ANC... and South Africans in general.

-JACOB ZUMA,South African president, apologizing for fathering a child out of wedlock. Zuma has three wives and is engaged to a fourth woman.

    • 'The pain' word used in the statement above is explain about a big problem faced by Jacob Zuma, and the language use is euphemistic language.

John Avlon- explaining the origins of the birther movement on the Daily Beast:

"There's an inconvenient truth liberals are going to have to confront:...the birther conspiracy theory was first concocted by renegade members of the original Obama haters ... a splinter group of hard-core Hillary Clinton supporters who did not want to give up the ghost ... Wing nuts exist in both parties , wherever anger and absolution drive people to believe that their political opponents are their personal enemies."- 2/8/10

    • The words inconvenient truth liberal means people make mistakes. And it is a euphemistic language.

did you know about Adolf Hitler?

    Salam Alaik,

In my new post I would like to share some facts about Hitler. Generally we know Hitler is a dictator. Why not we explore a little bit about his life?

A Facts you should know about Mr. Adolf Hitler!

    Hitler's family.

    · Despite becoming the dictator of Germany, Hitler was not born there. Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria on April 20, 1889.

    · Hitler's parents were Alois (1837-1903) and Klara (1860-1908) Hitler.

    · Hitler had only one sibling that survived childhood, Paula (1896-1960).

    · However, Hitler also had four other siblings that died in childhood: Gustav (1885-1887), Ida (1886-1888), Otto (1887), and Edmund (1894-1900).

    · In addition to his sister Paula, Hitler had one step-brother, Alois (b. 1882) and one step-sister, Angela (1883-1949), both from his father's previous marriage.

    · Hitler was known as "Adi" in his youth.

    · Hitler's father, Alois, was in his third marriage and 51 years old when Hitler was born. He was known as a strict man who retired from the civil service when Hitler was only six. Alois died when Hitler was 13.

    Artist and Anti-Semite

    · Throughout his youth, Hitler dreamed of becoming an artist. He applied twice to the Vienna Academy of Art (once in 1907 and again in 1908) but was denied entrance both times.

    · At the end of 1908, Hitler's mother died of breast cancer.

    · After his mother's death, Hitler spent four years living on the streets of Vienna, selling postcards of his artwork to make a little money.

    · No one is quite sure where or how Hitler picked up his virulent antisemitism. Some say it was because of the questionable identity of his grandfather (was Hitler's grandfather Jewish?). Others say Hitler was furious at a Jewish doctor that let his mother die. However, it is just as likely that Hitler picked up a hatred for Jews while living on the streets of Vienna, a city known at the time for its antisemitism.

Hitler as a Soldier in World War I

    · Although Hitler attempted to avoid Austrian military service by moving to Munich, Germany in May 1913, Hitler volunteered to serve in the German army once World War I began.

    · Hitler endured and survived four years of World War I. During this time, he was awarded two Iron Crosses for bravery.

    · Hitler sustained two major injuries during the war. The first occurred in October 1916 when he was wounded by a grenade splinter. The other was on October 13, 1918, when a gas attack caused Hitler to go temporarily blind.

    · It was while Hitler was recovering from the gas attack that the armistice (i.e. the end of the fighting) was announced. Hitler was furious that Germany had surrendered and felt strongly that Germany had been "stabbed in the back" by its leaders.

    Hitler Enters Politics

    · Furious at Germany's surrender, Hitler returned to Munich after the end of World War I, determined to enter politics.

    · In 1919, Hitler became the 55th member of a small antisemitic party called the German Worker's Party.

    · Hitler soon became the party's leader, created a 25-point platform for the party, and established a bold red background with a white circle and swastika in the middle as the party's symbol. In 1920, the party's name was changed to National Socialist German Worker's Party (i.e. the Nazi Party).

    · Over the next several years, Hitler often gave public speeches that gained him attention, followers, and financial support.

    · In November 1923, Hitler spearheaded an attempt to take over the German government through a putsch (a coup), called the Beer Hall Putsch.

    · When the coup failed, Hitler was caught and sentenced to five years in prison.

    · It was while in Landsberg prison that Hitler wrote his book, Mein Kampf (My Struggle).

    · After only nine months, Hitler was released from prison.

    · After getting out of prison, Hitler was determined to build up the Nazi Party in order to take over the German government using legal means.

    Hitler Becomes Chancellor

    · In 1932, Hitler was granted German citizenship.

    · In the July 1932 elections, the Nazi Party obtained 37.3 percent of the vote for the Reichstag (Germany's parliament), making it the controlling political party in Germany.

    · On January 30, 1933, Hitler was appointed chancellor. Hitler then used this high-ranking position to gain absolute power over Germany. This finally happened when Germany's president, Paul von Hindenburg, died in office on August 2, 1934.

    · Hitler took the title of Führer and Reichskanzler (Leader and Reich Chancellor).

    Hitler as Führer

    · As dictator of Germany, Hitler wanted to increase and strengthen the German army as well as expand Germany's territory. Although these things broke the terms of the Versailles Treaty, the treaty that officially ended World War I, other countries allowed him to do so. Since the terms of the Versailles Treaty had been harsh, other countries found it easier to be lenient than risk another bloody European war.

    · In March 1938, Hitler was able to annex Austria into Germany (called the Anschluss) without firing a single shot.

    · When Nazi Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939, the other European nations could no longer stand idly by. World War II began.

    · On July 20, 1944, Hitler barely survived an assassination attempt. One of his top military officers had placed a suitcase bomb under the table during a conference meeting at Hitler's Wolf's Lair. Because the table leg blocked much of the blast, Hitler survived with only injuries to his arm and some hearing loss. Not everyone in the room was so lucky.

    · On April 29, 1945, Hitler married his long-time mistress, Eva Braun.

    · The following day, April 30, 1945, Hitler and Eva committed suicide together

    The Pianist

My class (DEC 4A) is required to be the host for The Pianist movie screening. My first thought of this movie is it’s going to be a very pale boring movie. My friend already tells me about the synopsis of the story, not all but only a little. When she said the movie about the Jews, what comes into my mind is the 'killing scene'. Oh, how I didn’t want to see this movie, you don’t know how irritated I am with World War II era war/Holocaust movies? By the way, this movie is screening almost two and a half hours long. But, we divided it into two parts in two days, part 1 and part 2 so that all semester 4 students can go back to their hostel early. I almost sneak out from the hall because the movie is too extreme to watch. I can see my friends are crying by looking at the Nazi’s armies tortured the Jews; it is not because of mercy perhaps because of the violence towards human?

This is the synopsis about The Pianist.

The Pianist starts out in Warsaw in 1939. Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) is a gifted pianist who specialized in played Chopin pieces, which he did over Polish radio. He played the last live music heard over Polish radio airwaves before Nazi artillery hit. He and his family, including his father (Frank Finlay), his mother (Maureen Lipman), his older brother Henryk (Ed Stoppard), and his two sisters Regina (Julia Raynor) and Halina (Jessica Kate Meyer), are all captured and sent to the Warsaw ghetto. The Nazis then decide to exterminate some of the Jews in the ghetto, s

o they begin deporting them to the concentration camps. As he and his family are being loaded up on the trains to be shipped away to the camps, a former friend named Itzak Heller (Roy Smiles), now a Nazi collaborator working as an auxiliary police officer, saves him by pulling him out of the line. He spends the next couple of years moving from hideout to hideout, helped by Jewish sympathizers, including a cellist he had met earlier named Dorota (Emilia Fox), and a singer named Janina (Ruth Platt) with her husband Bogucki (Ronan Vibert.) He might have had a romance with Dorota, but the war got in the way. After he can’t make it to any more safe houses, he spends the last part of the war in the ruins of the Warsaw Ghetto. It is there he is confronted by a music-loving Nazi soldier named Captain Wilm Hosenfeld (Thomas Kretschmann), who helps Szpilman ride out the rest of the war after an impromptu performance given by the pianist.

The story gave the main character some hope without getting sentimental. That makes me want to watch it more. Throughout his hiding, he witnesses some awful things being done to his fellow Jews. He is so lucky that he manage to survive. The main character of this movie, Brody ( Szpilman) plays the character perfectly. The Pianist is definitely not for everyone. I don’t think young kids should see it, because it is brutal with its violence (I think some students walked out of the screening after seeing some of it.) If you want to see an uncensored, unapologetic movie about the reality of the Holocaust and how one man’s survival of it, then by all means, check it out unapologetic movie about the reality of the Holocaust and how one man’s survival of it, then by all means, check it out. It’s not one of my favorite movies of the year, but it is far from boring.

    K,Thanks for reading.

    Salam.

Eureka eureka! ow o o Eureka!

    Salam Alaik,

Okay, the intro might be cliche as all my friends keep saying " when i was..bla3.." so it is not wrong if I make the intro like what they did. I'm not sure if this can called as Eureka Moment or what, this happened when I was a little kid. I have 3 siblings which is my Along, Abang and me. I'm the last one in my family so both of my sibling not give a damn of what am I doing. They don't even treat me like their sister.(not really actually). Back then my relationship between me and my brother is not so good,we often fighting and beat each other talk loudly and always not feel satisfied when we two met. One day, when we fought over something he twisted my hand maybe his temper is getting high. And then he was scolded by my dad. He enter boarding school at the age of 15, and i feel so lonely. I cried. After we grown up... his attitude had changed, and now I'm 20 years old and he is 25 years old. Our bond as a siblings is getting closer,we often tell jokes and gossiping. We share problems and go out sometimes. Now i realized, how much my brother love and care to me. I think that is my Eureka Moment I can tell. :) (:
